136. My 2023 Buckshot Experience
In this episode of the podcast, I chat about my 2023 Buckshot experience. The Buckshot, an early season event put on by BC Epic 1000 organizer Lennard Pretorious, is an early season event in Central BC covering 380km and 6400m elevation gain. My Wahoo reported 6800, for what it’s worth. I was able to knock it out in 36 hours.
No matter the length, events like this can be challenging. In this case, the heat and infrequent resupplies were the main issue. Also, the fact that the Buckshot occurs so early in the season, one might not be as physically prepared as they should be. This certainly applies to me and the struggles were real on day one.
I also address a listener voice intro discussing the feelings of guilt he feels by stealing time away from his family to train for endurance events.
There’s lots to chat about in this one so I hope you enjoy the listen.
